These are some of the faces and stories of the people of Macquarie that are calling for urgent climate action....

Tanya Ritchie, Colo

"I live with my partner on 50 beautiful acres near the Colo River. I love this place and our little valley community. Over the 40 years I have been here I have noticed our creek drying up and the bushfires becoming more ferocious. Climate anxiety has become a very real thing, particularly for the young people I know. For the sake of the people and the places I love, I will keep doing everything I can to cut greenhouse gas emissions, including voting for candidates who will also take urgent action."

Serena Joyner, Faulconbridge

"I love running and bushwalking through the incredibly beautiful country of the Blue Mountains - I feel like my soul is restored. During the bushfires of 2019/2020 my heart physically ached for the damage being done to the land and the precious wildlife that was killed or displaced. It's been shown that climate change is causing more intense bushfires, and it will only get worse. If we don't take rapid action to slow and stop climate change we will end up losing these precious places."

Lyn Sinclair, Woodford

"As a 4th generation Blue Mountains resident, I have known and loved this beautiful place all my life. My children and grandchildren also call this region home. I want to leave it intact for them and for all future generations. I have seen the changes that climate inaction is causing: more intense and uncontrollable bushfires in particular. Our communities in the Mountains and the Hawkesbury want to protect these precious places: so let’s work together to ensure that we do!"
